Just wanted to show my appreciation to everyone who joined us at TEDxMoretonBay last night. Such a warm and generous crowd. Thought you might like to know that the seven year old (of the proud cup-wielding mama) was so thrilled with his prize that he’s used it twice already today. That alone makes the effort all worthwhile x

Tickets for TEDxMoretonBay have sold out. Thank you to everyone who has shown their support. See you all at Redcliffe Jetty Contemporary Art tomorrow night at 5:45pm. Don’t forget your cup!

TEDxMoretonBay is looking for four people willing to lend us a hand on the evening of the event. The roles we have available are as follows:

* Catering – 2 people to distribute the pre-ordered treat platters
* Drinks – 2 people to set up and serve drinks (would be great if one of them has their RSA)

All vollies will be required from 5.15 for a briefing, then will ‘work’ from 5.30 – 6.30, after which they can sit back and enjoy the event. From 8.15 – 9.00 vollies will be required to assist with post-event mingling and tidy up.

All volunteers will receive one free drink and a treat platter of their choice.

We thought we were being clever using an empty shop to host TEDxMoretonBay. Alas, one of the risks of using ‘temporary’ spaces is that they are prone to changing circumstances.

Our venue, the “old Thurecht’s shop” has recently found itself a tenant, which is great news for downtown Redcliffe, but a bit of a hitch for us.

We’re happy to report that we have found another venue – the brand new Redcliffe Jetty Contemporary Art. It’s a lovely gallery just a minute’s walk from the previous venue AND it comes with waterviews.

The proprietor Karen has been very accommodating and we are excited that we are now able to offer our guests a beautiful art-filled space on top of all the other great stuff coming their way.

For those who know the Redcliffe downtown area, the gallery is situated between Subway and the Jetty Cafe.

I recently contacted social innovation guru Ingrid Burkett to be a speaker at TEDxMoretonBay.

Ingrid  lives in the Moreton Bay region and amongst many other things, runs a consultancy business called Knode (short for “knowledge design”). Knode’s aim is to build the knowledge base that underpins social innovation and to help community organisations, governments and businesses to foster and share innovative practice.

Ingrid’s a very busy lady and wasn’t available to speak … so she offered to sponsor us instead! True story.

If like us, you’re interested in community, creativity, social innovation, storytelling, public space and more of that kinda change-related stuff you will enjoy the Knode facebook page immensely. Ingrid does a great job of sharing inspiring projects from around the globe (and closer to home too).

You do know it’s BYO cup right?

Everyone who brings their own cup on the evening will get a free drink on arrival, and be eligible for our coveted ‘most creative drinking vessel’ prize.

Just in case you forget, local ceramic artist Pattie Murray will have some of her lovely beakers, tea bowls, and tea/coffee cups available for sale on the night.

The beakers and tea bowls range in price from $18 to $22 and the tea/coffee cups are $30 to $35. All are individually thrown and made of Australian Southern Ice Porcelain.
